Julie will be teaching at an international oil and acrylic painting workshop in September 2006 in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic.

The workshop has many bonuses and perks such as visiting artists’ private studios, side trips within the Czech Republic as well as neighboring Austria, complimentary paints (you bring your own brushes) and a public opening and show of students work at the close of the fabulous ten days in this 13th Century city. It has been called one of the most romantic places in Europe. Some call it Camelot, others say it is one of the most romantic places in Europe. Tourists passing through are charmed. The one who lingers falls in love.

Her teaching philosophy hints at her approach:

“The best thing a teacher can give a student is success," says Julie Hudspeth, Milkwood International Artist Resident and Painting Workshop Facilitator. Julie encourages students to discover and develop their own style. She enfolds training students to see light and shadow with giving ideas in using color and other technical learning. And, she believes you should enjoy the learning process.

Julie says, "In addition to teaching fresh perception and solid technical skills, I place a lot of importance on fun. This may feel like amusement, play, recreation, sport or the simple wonder of learning. A sigh at the end of a session should be one of pleasure and achievement, not one of relief that it is over." She likes to think of her students as "gleaners" who gather what they need to help them enjoy their artwork and their life.
